In today’s press statement made by Chanderbhaga Youth and Students organization (CYSO) activist Anjali Parihar said that, As we all know that amid the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic, the whole nation is in lockdown for more than a month now.
The country today is facing many challenges like the economic slowdown, communalistic hednoist by people and so on. This list goes on further. But besides all these, a major setback is for students all over the country and more worse for the students of our union territory.
While every institution is focussing to switch to digital education to help students and to go on with their studies further, there are a lot who still lags behind.
She added that In our UT Jammu and Kashmir there had been internet shutdown. The internet services were put to halt for a period of more than nine months starting soon after article 370 was scrapped, which conferred special status to J&K( previously a state).
Though the ban over internet has now lifted from the union territory, but the region is still refrained from high speed internet. The major setback is for the students here who suffer in these days. When the whole country is switching to the online classes to go on with their studies, the students here are spending hours just into signing in classes.
The worst of the situation prevails in the region which lage far behind this revolution of internet and e-education. These are the regions where even students are not able to pursue their studies even in school either due to poor infrastructure, poor educational resources or non availability of teaching faculty etc. This list of points is very long.
There are some regions where one cannot expect to make a call because the network connectivity in that very region is very poor and the administration is expecting them to continue studies online.
Even some of the regions are not electrified till the date, the students there are forced to study either by candle light or by burning kerosene lamps within the poor and menacing facilities, how they are supposed to compensate the loss they are incurring in their studies.
Such a biasness exists here that issues of some regions are dragged into international headlines too while the grievances of some parts is not visible to be highlighted even for the state level authorities.
No initiatives had ever been taken to address the grievances of the students of chanderbhaga region that includes districts Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban.
Isn’t it a matter of sheer bewildered that the so called government and our authorities were able to supply power generated by our hydroelectric power projects to various states till Rajasthan but couldn’t electrify the houses of the people who had the first right over it i.e the people of Chanderbhaga.
It has always been the policy of the political houses to take away from the worthy for the sake of the specified ones.
Lastly CYSO working member Anjali Parihar said, It is worth noting that resources rich region of chanderbhaga has always been exploited and natives are being deprived to their rich resources and rights in name of development.
Now, it is our duty to make people of chanderbhaga as well as the other people aware about the injustice and biased treatment of the region from decades.
Together we will stand and fight for our rights, for the betterment of our CHANDERBHAGA!!
