Srinagar, March 26: In continuation of the Government of Jammu & Kashmir’s public outreach initiative, Srinagar Police conducted Lok Darbar-cum-Awareness Programmes under the Thana Diwas initiative across multiple Police Stations and Police Posts in the district.
The programmes were organized at nine Police Stations and one Police Post, namely: PS Panthachowk, PS Khanyar, PS Nigeen, PS Rajbagh, PS R.M. Bagh, PS Shaltang, PS Nowhatta, PS Saddar, PS Zakoora, and PP Urdu Bazar.
Senior officers, along with supervisory and jurisdictional officers, chaired the meetings, which saw active participation from members of civil society, including Auqaf Committees, trade federations, transporters, Panchayati Raj representatives, and other prominent citizens.
The events served as an interactive platform for the public to voice concerns related to policing and civil administration. Police officers also sensitized participants about the newly introduced criminal laws, enhancing legal awareness and understanding among the public.
Notably, Police Station Shalteng organized a Thana Diwas programme at Imam Bargah, Gund Hassi Bhat, which witnessed significant participation from residents of Sozeith, Lawaypora, and Gund Hassi Bhat. The programme was chaired by SSP Srinagar, Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, along with SDPO West and SHO PS Shalteng. The officers welcomed the participants and appreciated their continued cooperation with the police.
During the interaction, participants reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and communal harmony and pledged full cooperation in curbing drug abuse and other criminal activities. A written assurance to this effect was also submitted.
The chair assured that all police-related issues would be addressed on priority, while matters pertaining to civil administration would be taken up with the concerned authorities for timely resolution.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks from both sides, reaffirming a shared commitment towards maintaining public order, strengthening community engagement, and fostering a robust Police-Public partnership.
