Srinagar, Apr 01: The COVID vaccination drive for all above 45 years of age has started in Ladakh Union Territory along with whole India.
A top health official of the UT told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that vaccination for all above 45 years of age was started in Ladakh on Thursday and on day one, around four thousand people received the first jab.
He said that the vaccination process is going on in every nook and corner of the UT and so far over 43 thousand people in Ladakh have been vaccinated. He added that there is no hesitancy among the people of Ladakh and people in long queues are coming to receive the shot.
He added that on Thursday long queues of people aged above 45 of age were seen waiting for their turn outside the hospital in different areas of division and this shows there is no hesitancy among the people.
The official urged people not to lower the guard and continue following protocol in letter and in spirit as various areas of India are witnessing steep spike in positive cases.
He said that there is no shortage of vaccine. “Government is regularly monitoring the allocation; consumption and need for replenishment of vaccines and people must register at an earliest to get shots on time.”—(KNO)
