Srinagar, Apr 22: The field executives of Legal Metrology Department (LMD) intensified the market inspections across the valley and recovered a penal sum of over Rs 7 lacs from the erring traders.
The department conducted 1814 market inspections to detect the violations and booked 272 erring traders for violating Legal Metrology Laws. The violators were mainly vegetable sellers/fruit sellers/kiryana sellers/cooking gas dealers/ mutton sellers etc.
The nature of offences was mainly use of unstamped commercial weights and measures and short-weighments/ short-measurements/ over-charging on packed products.
