Observes that practice “nurtures inefficiency, leads to lack of governance”

Srinagar, May 05 (KNO): Maintaining that rationalization of Darbar move is urgently required, the High Court on Tuesday threw the ball in government’s court over decision on 148-year-old practice.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Rajnesh Oswal today directed that the judgement be served upon Union Home Secretary and Chief Secretary Jammu and Kashmir with the direction to place the same before the competent authorities for examining the issues and taking a considered decision thereon.
The High Court observed that “keeping in view the public interest and to enable continuous efficient governance, it is essential that movement of employees and physical assets be minimized. “Rationalisation of Darbar Move is urgently required,” the court concluded as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) Correspondent.
It also maintained that “Darbar move causes delay in justice dispensation as government records are not available to pleaders in one region for six months at a time.
“Looking from any angle, the Darbar Move results in wastage of tremendous amount of time, efforts and energy on inefficient energy (say, packing of records). It nurtures inefficiency and leads to lack of governance,” the court observed—(KNO)
