Pulwama, Aug 03 : As a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Pulwama Police arrested three notorious drug peddlers and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substances.
According to an official handout, which lies with the Kashmir Bulletin (KB), reads the arrests occurred at a checkpoint established at Washpora Murran, Pulwama. A police party from the Pulwama Police Station apprehended a drug peddler identified as Manzoor Ahmad Dar, son of Gh Nabi Dar, a resident of Washpora Murran. During the arrest, the police recovered two bottles of contraband substances from his possession.
Subsequently, a case was registered under FIR No. 135/2024, and an investigation was initiated.
The handout further reads that following the disclosure made by Manzoor Ahmad Dar and the evidence gathered during the investigation, the police conducted raids at multiple locations. These raids led to the recovery of 66 bottles, apparently containing codeine phosphate, a regulated substance often misused as a recreational drug.
As a result of these raids, two more individuals were arrested. The accused have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Mir, son of Gh Nabi Mir, and Liyaqat Nazir, son of Nazir Ahmad Lone, both residents of Murran. The ongoing investigation has now been entrusted to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to ensure a thorough and meticulous probe.
Pulwama Police reiterated their commitment to eradicating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. The swift action taken by the police serves as a stern warning to those involved in illegal drug activities.—(KB)
