JAMMU, Oct 6: Seeking capital punishment for accused persons, Apni Party women wing today organised a protest demonstration against Hathras gang-rape and murder case here in the winter capital.

Led by Apni Party Provincial President Women Wing Namrta Sharma, the women leaders and workers staged demonstration demanding capital exemplary punishment against the gang-rape.

Speaking on the occasion, Namrta said that the local administration and police of Hathras should be held responsible for the heinous act which happened under their nose.

She expressed her surprise over the people who held protest in support of the rape accused persons and demanded that “Govt should give them capital punishment to avoid repeat of such incidents in the country. The people who support the rape accused and playing politics over the innocent girl who was victimized and her honour was disrespected must also be booked.”

Apni Party’s Provincial President Women Wing said that “These incidents should be dealt with iron hands and elements supporting the rape accused must be boycotted in society.”

The Hathras incident has exposed the failure of the administration and police who were trying to hush-up the incident, she said, adding that justice should be delivered to the victim’s family.

“Politics on the issue should not be played and the people should unite to ensure justice for the victim family,” she said expressing concern over the division on the issue.

The protesters shouted slogans against the act and appealed to the Govt to punish the civil administration and police station incharge of the area Hathras for their failure to protect the women.
