Aam Aadmi Party Jammu and Kashmir, activists, S/Sh. S. Deep Singh, Ram Singh Chauhan, Dr. A. C. Bhagat,
Kuldeep Kumar Rao, S. Parmveer Singh, Om Parkash Khajuria, Amit langer, Rampal Khajuria, Raman Sharma & Mohd
Aslam Kohli ,have expressed serious concern over the deteriorating plight of Govt. Degree colleges and Hr. Sec.
Schools across the Union Territory due to non-availability of teaching staff. Highly educated and qualified unemployed
youth of J&K had pinned hopes that they may be absorbed as there exist large number of vacant positions in respect of
teaching staff in various Govt.Degree Colleges and Govt. Hr. Sec. Schools when former Governor of erstwhile Jammu
and Kashmir state had announced ten months back that 50,000 jobs will be created in J&K, which did not happen till
date. And simultaneously consequent upon such announcement of 50,000 jobs, the public at large had heaved a sigh
of relief that at least some vacant positions in Govt. Degree Colleges and Govt. Hr. Sec. Schools will be filled up and the
sufferings of the student community will be addressed to some extent but no such steps were taken by the government
and likewise ten months passed.
The vacancies of teaching staff vary in different streams and reportedly in some streams the situation is worst due
to non-availability of staff since long times. For example in 52 or so newly created Degree Colleges of Arts stream
across erstwhile state of J&K, the situation is worst due to non-availability of teaching staff and same is the plight of
Govt. Hr. Sec. Schools, as well. Unfortunate part of the story is that often selfish and opportunist politicians to fetch
votes make announcements for opening of new Govt. Degree College(s) / Hr.Sec. Schools but when their purpose of
fetching votes is fulfilled, they even forget as to which area they had made the announcement of opening of a new Govt.
Degree College or a Hr.Sec.School and therefore question of creating posts of college lecturers, does not arise. Aam
Aadmi Party J&K is not averse to the recently issued orders of the JK-UT administration regarding filling up of 10,000
posts, of which according to the order, most of these posts pertain to class IV vacancies and Panchayats Assistants etc,
but there is no mention of filling up of vacant posts in Govt. Degree colleges and Govt. Hr. Sec. Schools, which is
worrisome. The academic session at one hand is already over, though there was delay due to present Corona
pandemic turmoil across the world including India and the worrisome plight of vacant positions remains as such and on
the other hand there is no word heard on behalf of UT administration in this behalf and therefore, a situation of
resentment has flared up among public.
Jammu and Kashmir Aam Aadmi Party makes an earnest appeal before the Lt. Governor Shri Grish Chander
Murmu to take cognizance of the deteriorating plight of student community across Union Territory of Jammu and
Kashmir due to non-availability of teaching staff and to take immediate necessary steps so that filling up of vacant posts
in Govt. Degree colleges and Govt. Hr. Sec. Schools is taken up on fast tract basis, and future of students is saved to
some extent.
