Jammu Airport gears up for resumption of domestic flights as per SOPs, awaits slot

Jammu: Ahead of Civil Aviation Ministry’s decision of resuming flight operations suspended in view of Coronavirus, the Jammu Civil Airport is also geared up for the same by remaining adhere to the SOPs (standard operating procedures) from May 25 onwards.
The Jammu Airport authorities, however, have tightened their boots days before resumption of domestic commercial flight operations following all the guidelines laid by the Civil Aviation Ministry in view of Coronavirus pandemic.
“We are ready to resume the flight operations and all preparations are put in place as per the SOPs,” Dr Pravat Ranjan, Director, Jammu Airport Station here said.
He further said, “We are waiting for the slot to be allotted by the DGCA as many airline operators have submitted their schedules.”
The Director said that it is up to the DGCA to issue the slot following which, the Jammu Airport has to resume services accordingly adding, “Many stakeholders including the J&K Administration and DGCA are also involved and it is only after they hold deliberations, slot of airlines with number of flights to operate, be finalised to resume the operation.”
“Airports no doubt are well organised but still before we have to make passengers aware of SOPs and guidelines they have to follow on their arrival at the airports,” said Dr Pravat Ranjan.
He, however, said that as per SOPs, arrangements like sanitisation of trolleys and baggage by manual spraying machine, thermal screening of passengers to record temperature, flight ticket and ID checking through web cam at arrivals and departures (2 Tier Security), market seating arrangements for social distancing, transparent sheet fixed above check in counter, boarding card and baggage handover at alternate check counters, recording of boarding passengers at frisking booth and COVID sampling for each arriving passenger at the arrival, are put in place for smooth sailing.
Meanwhile, pertinent to mention here that the Director General Civil Aviation has fixed the air fares as per different categories ranging between a minimum of Rs 2000 and maximum of Rs 18600. According to the Circular the minimum and maximum for different categories is for A category Rs. 2000 and Rs. 6000, for B category Rs. 2500 and Rs 7500, for C category Rs.3000 and Rs. 9000 for D category Rs.3500 and Rs. 10000 for E category Rs 4500 and Rs. 13000 for F category Rs.5500 and Rs. 15700 and for G category Rs.6500 and Rs.18600, respectively.
