JAMMU MAY 01- Senior National Conference leaders today expressed solidarity with the millions of workers across the country in general and Jammu and Kashmir in particular on May Day, saying this year the occasion is marked by unprecedented situation in the wake of lockdown due to dreaded corona virus.
In their separate messages, the National Conference leaders observed that the work-force in particular is facing a major brunt of the lockdown as every activity has come to grinding halt and many of them are rendered temporarily jobless. However, they exuded confidence about the situation taking positive turnout enabling them participate in nation building effort with renewed vigour.
“Though the May Day is reminiscent of the workers’ rights and societal response towards their well being yet there is greater need this year for the society to acknowledge its social responsibility towards these marginalized segments of the society”, Provincial President Mr Devender Singh Rana said in a message on the May Day.
Various other senior leaders recalled the huge role of National Conference over the decades in relentlessly fighting for the cause of the labour-class and working for their socio-economic empowerment. They said that empowerment of the labour force remains guiding force for the party.
Those who expressed solidarity with the labour-force include former ministers Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Mr Surjeet Singh Slathia, Mr Rattan Lal Gupta, Mr Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, Mr Kashmira Singh, Th Rachpal Singh, Mr Abdul Gani Malik, Syed Mushtaq Ahmed Shah Bukhari, Sheikh Bashir, Mr Javed Rana, Mr Khalid Najeeb Suharwardhy, Mr Jagjeevan Lal, Mr T S Wazir, Mr Ajaz Jan, Mrs Satwant Kour Dogra and others.
President National Conference State Central Labour Union Mr Nar Singh, in his message, highlighted the issues pertaining to work force, especially in public sector undertakings.
