Jammu, June 1: A soldier died of gunshot wounds from his service rifle at a camp here, officials said on Tuesday.
Official sources told news agency Kashmir News Trust that investigation has been taken up to ascertain the facts. It is yet to clear whether the soldier dies of accidental fire or was hit by his own service rifle.
They said the soldier was on duty when his colleagues heard a gunshot from his post on Monday morning.
The incident occurred at Sunal Camp in Akhnoor Sector of Jammu.
The deceased soldier has been identified as Havaldar Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Himachal Pradesh. (KNT)
