As states and Union Territories across India race each other to vaccinate their populations against COVID-19 in the hopes of controlling the spread of the deadly virus and restoring some sense of normality, there is a danger that the other variants or another wave might follow up and hence to kerb that proper SOP’s and getting vaccinated at earliest is essential to defeat such a life taking disease.
When the whole country was facing acute shortage of oxygen and hospital beds during the pandemic’s second wave, here in Kashmir several Govt bodies under the supervision of Hon’ble Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha ji, NGO’s, volunteers repurposed spaces like panchayat Ghar’s, schools, offices, hotels, community halls etc into emergency rooms, buying oxygen concentrators, meals for quarantined people and organising testing and vaccination camps.
The preparations by the Govt of Jammu and Kashmir helped many receive life-saving care.
As health experts have warned of a third wave since restrictions brought on by the second wave are eased and have underlined that vaccinating a large percentage of the population is the only way forward. So, it becomes duty and moral responsibility of each and every citizen to not come out of their homes unnecessarily and adhere to SOP’s as much as possible.
