Srinagar, June 5: Takin full advantage of Covid-19 related lockdown, some Srinagar Municipal Corporation employees are allowing people to go for illegal construction in Safakadal area of Srinagar city.
Insiders told news agency Kashmir News Trust that SMC Ward Officer and Building Inspector are facilitating illegal constructions in Ward number 18 in Safakadal.
They said no urban laws are being followed and vested interest elements are being allowed to construct their houses freely in Shaheen Mohala, Rathpora, Firdous Colny and Aali Masjid areas of Safakadal.
The insiders said that SMC officials deployed in the ward are taking full advantage of the lockdown and are exacting money from the people. “Scores of illegal structures have been erected by the people, in various areas of the ward in violation of the rules.”
When contacted an official said that matter will be looked into and action will follow if allegations are found true. (KNT)
