According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), amid the intermittent rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir, the mercury settled below normal at many few places including Srinagar, Qazigund, Pahalgam, Kupwara, Kokernag, Jammu, Banihal, Batite, Bhaderwah and Katra.

Deputy Director Meteorological department (MeT), Mukhtar Ahmad said that the weather conditions would improve from tomorrow afternoon.

The temperature, however, plummeted at many places in Jammu and Kashmir while the independent weather forecaster, Faizan Arif Keng said that Srinagar recorded the coldest June day at 15.0 degree Celsius in the last 48 years.

The maximum temperature in Srinagar was below 14.2 degree Celsius than normal, he said, adding that today’s temperature is very common in February for Srinagar.

Kupwara recorded a maximum temperature of 14.3 degree Celsius, which is over 11.3 degree Celsius below normal. Jammu, the winter capital of the Union territory also recorded below normal temperature today at 24.7 degree Celsius (13.5 below than normal).

Meanwhile, the traffic on either side of Srinagar-Jammu highway was stopped after the fresh rainfall triggered shooting stones along the road.

The officials said that the shooting stones occurred at Panthyal area following which the traffic on either side was stopped as precautionary measure. However, the traffic remained suspended when the report was last filed—(KNO)
