Whopping Figures: Contraband Substances Worth Nearly 5 Crores Recovered By Baramulla Police in April Month; 30 Persons Arrested, 19 Cases Registered

Baramulla, May 1: In a major crackdown on drug mafia, Police in Barmulla throughout the month of April initiated nineteen cases against thirty persons on recovery of different contraband substances with an estimated market-value of nearly five crores.

The statistical data titled ‘NDPS DATA FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL, 2021’, a facsimile of which is in exclusive possession of Srinagar-based news agency Global News Service (GNS), revealed that contraband worth 4 Cr, 89 Lacs and 67 thousands (approx.) were recovered at different locations across the frontier district.

The break-up of contraband seizures, as maintained in the data, reveals that; Heroin – 909 grams 4.6 Crore; Charas Powder – 05 Kgs 19.2 Lakhs; Charas – 2 Kgs & 537 grams 9.74 Lakhs; Wincirex – 59Bottles 23600 INR; Z-Rex – 46 Bottles 18400 INR; Codiene – 28 Bottles 11200 INR; Spasmo Proxyvon – 36 Tabs 3600 INR; P.Coff – 03 Bottles1200 INR; Rexcof – 12 Bottles 4800 INR and Alprozolam – 100 Tabs 10000 INR.

Regarding the particular seizure dates and identification of accused persons, the data says that: On April 2 – 30 Wincirex Bottles from two persons identified as Mohd shafi Magloo and Umar Abdullah residents of Khan Check Raza Khan were seized at Check Reza Khan Mirgund and an FIR number 59/2021 under sections 8/21, 29 NDPS Act taken up; On April 2 only, 7 grams of Heroin recovered from two persons Manzoor Ahmad Lone and Mohd Shafi Lone residents of Sultanpora Chandoosa at Chandoosa and an FIR number 09/2021 under section 8/21 NDPS Act taken up; On April 3 – Codeine- 07 Bottles, Wincirex- 04 Bottles P.Coff- 03 Bottles were seized from Danish Ahmad Lone resident of Lolipora at Wassun Crossing and an FIR number under 28/2021 under section 8/21 NDPS Act taken up; On April 4 – Charas 200 grams seized from Bilal Ahmad Shah resident of Dhobiwan at Dhobiwan Kunzer and an FIR number 29/2021 under section under section 8/20 NDPS Act taken up; On April 5 – Charas 170 grams were seized from one Naseer Ahmad Shiekh a resident of Kunzer at Bazar Kunzer and an FIR number 30/2021 under section 8/20NDPS Act taken up; On April 6 – Heroin 757 grams seized from two accused persons identified as Mohammad Shafi Parray and Mukhtar Ahmad Parray residents of Uri at Sangam Bridge Boniyar and an FIR number 22/2021 under sections 8/21, 29 NDPS Act taken up; On April 7 – Charas 105 grams were recovered from one Irshad Ahmad Magray resident of Tilgam Kreeri at Tilgam Kreeri and an FIR number 23/2021 under section 8/20 taken up; On April 8 – Z-Rex- 46 Bottles Wincirex- 25Bottles Codeine- 21 Bottles recovered from one Manzoor Ahmad Parray resident of Lawaypora Srinagar at Mirgund and an FIR 65/2021 under section 8/21 NDPS Act taken up; On April 8 again – Charas 80 grams were recovered from one Momin Abass a resident of Gund Khaja Qasim at Kongumdara Pattan and an FIR number 66/2021 under section 8/20 NDPS Act taken up; On April 9 – Charas-210 grams Charas Powder- 05Kgs recovered from one Noor Mir Sheikh of Kunzer at Kunzer and an FIR number 66/2021 under section 8/20 NDPS Act taken up; On April 10 – Charas 105 grams recovered from one Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh from Heewan Sheeri at Heewan and an FIR number 15/2021 under section 8/20 NDPS Act taken up; On April 11 – Charas 225 grams seized from two persons Adil Ahmad Rather and Khalid Ahmad Bhat residents of Wagoora at Wazir Wagoora Crossing and an FIR number 26/2021 under sections 8/20,29 NDPS Act taken up; On April 17 again – Charas 112 grams seized from two persons Irfan Rasool Bhat and Junaid Ahmad Zargar residents of Buldam Wathora and Kreeri respectively at Kreeri Gauch and an FIR number 29/2021 under sections 8/20,29 NDPS Act taken up; On April 17 again – Charas- 220 grams, Spasmo Proxyvon- 06 Tabs recovered from four persons identified as Tanveer Ahmad Lone, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone and Mubashir Ahmad Lone residents of Nowpora and Altaf Ahmad Rather resident of Khaitangan at Mirangund Nowpora and an FIR number 30/2021 under sections 8/20-29 NDPS Act taken up; On April 20 – Rexcof- 12 Bottles, Alprozolam- 100 Tabs Spasmo Proxyvon- 30 Tabs recovered from one Basit Fayaz Kaloo resident of Ganie Hamam Bla at Azadgunj and an FIR number 61/2021u/s 8/2021 NDPS Act taken up; On April 24 – Heroin – 145 grams recovered from Mohd Subhan Khan resident of Dachi Uri at Mohura Bridge and an FIR number 35/2021 under section 8/2021 NDPS Act; On April 26 – Charas 30 grams recovered from four persons Adil Khaliq Malik, Ishfaq Ahmad Mali residents of Khag Budgam and Noor Mohd Malik, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat residents of Shuglipora Khag at Batpora and an FIR number 45/2021 under section 8/20 NDPS Act taken up; On April 27 – Charas 140 grams from one Hilal Ahmad Waza resident of Mamoosa Pattan at Pattan and an FIR number 46/2021 under section 8/20NDPS Act taken up and on April 28 – Charas- 650 grams recovered from one Showket Ahmad Khan resident of Nadihal Rafiabad at Janbazpora and an FIR number 64/2021 under section 8/20 NDPS Act taken up.

Terming it as an good omen for the residents of the district, a top-level district officer told Global News Service that the persistent efforts by the police with able assistance from sources has over the time boosted the law-enforcement agencies to rein into such unscrupulous elements in the society.

“We will go harder on them to eradicate the drug menace from the district”, the officer said adding that the district police expects more active participation from the Civil Society in this endeavor. (GNS)
