Bandipora, 28 May: Villagers in Gamroo village located in the outskirts of Bandipora town were amazed to find two bear cubs playing on the roadside Friday morning.
Within few minutes, hundreds of locals gathered at the spot to see the playful cubs.
Some even offered bananas to the baby bears, locals who witnessed the events said.
Unable to find the mother of babies after a search for few hours, the locals handed over the cubs to wildlife officials.
Meanwhile, the mother bear was also spotted in the village some distance away. However, as the people were panic strike, the Bear escaped into the wild and as per officials, the teams are set up to catch hold of the wild bear.
The locals said though Bears entering into the villages is a common sight but in areas close to the forests.
“The presence of bears in densely populated village alongside the town peripheries is indeed surprising and raises questions as to what prompted them to descend so deep in the village,” a curious local expressed.
