Srinagar, Aug 26: The Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar on Thursday said that he didn’t take leave for even a single day in the last twenty months.

The IGP said this while replying to a question on the sidelines of National Meet on Safety Culture and Energy at Sonmarg in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal District.

He said that he has not visiter his home for the last 20 months, and it is because of the dedication towards work.

Speaking on the occasion regarding the safety rules, IGP said that actors who work in movies are mostly taken as brand ambassadors to encourage people to wear helmets. “Instead the people can be taken among us who are strictly adhering to safety norms and they must be the safety ambassadors instead of celebrities,” he said.

He said that the Police and doctors deal with human lives and small mistake may take away lives, so safety is of the utmost importance.

“Mistakes happen because of three reasons which include not having Standard Operating Procedures, but we don’t follow them and the third reason is avoiding SOPs intentionally,” IGP said, adding that the SOPs must be updated from time to time, and monitored and improved.

IGP further said that managers must share and enforce collective belief in the organisation and specially at workplace that safety is most important.

He also said that the ‘Chalta Hai’ attitude must go and being a responsible citizen, everyone should adhere to safety norms to avoid loss of lives.
