A Regional Level meeting of bankers and NGOs on SHG/JLG-BLP was held today by NABARD at its Srinagar Office.
The meeting was chaired by Manohar Lal, DGM NABARD and attended by Managing Director J&K State Cooperative Bank QaziSarwar, Chairman EllaquiDehati Bank, Arshad –ul-Islam, Senior officers from State Bank of India, J&K Bank and officers from cooperative banks, private banks, NGOs/stakeholders and other officers of NABARD.

DGM Manohar Lal, while inaugurating the workshop, briefed the participants about objective of the meeting. He informed the participants about the importance of SHG/JLG bank linkage programme in alleviating rural distress and generating gainful livelihoods during the Covid-19 times.
The DGM, in his key note address, highlighted the status of JLGs and SHGs in the UT and stressed upon the bankers for upscaling the number of beneficiaries under the scheme.
The Managing Director of J&K State Cooperative Bank,QaziSarwar in his address pointed out the requirement of capacity building programmes for effectively implementing SHG/JLG bank linkage programme.
A detailed Power point presentation on SHG/JLG Bank Linkage Programme and other schemes under Farm and Off Farm Sector was made by Dr. Asif Ahmad Bhat, DDM NABARD.
An open house discussion was also held to discuss the challenges at ground level for implementing the programme and way forward for the same.
