Jammu:Woes of stranded people including students, labourers and other hapless people have increased many folds because reportedly the government officials / officers assigned the job of evacuating them often do not attend to the telephone calls of these helpless and hapless people and as such their worries have multiplied, was stated by Dr. Amar Chand Bhagat – chairman Lok Adhikaar Mission J&K in a press statement issued here at Jammu today.Elaborating the matter further he said that almost all the telephone numbers displayed on internet of Directory of Jammu district etc, are landline numbers and almost every time on dialing, the answer comes as, “Yeh number mojood nahin hai” i.e. this number does not exist.  And the height of things is that if at all by some lucky chance, telephone bell rings on dialing, nobody attends to it.  This clearly shows that to what extent the authorities at the helm of affairs are making an ugly joke with this poor and helpless people stuck down in lockdown situation and to what extent they are sensitive to the woes of these people. These stranded persons are held up at Jammu and in its outstricks and same is the situation in Srinagar (Kashmir).  These people throughout the day are making telephone calls here and there but are not in a position to get any clue as whatever government agencies; they are not in a position to reach out to these people.  These people do not know as to whom to approach, where to go, what to do in respect of getting permission / pass to go to their homes and hearths.  There are also some reports that some hapless stranded laborers / students have even sold their watches, mobile phones as these people have run short of money as the little money whatever they possessed, stands spent. Whatever policies / instructions framed by the JK – UT administration for evacuating these people virtually seem failed as the stuck up people are not being approached by any government agency.  Some political parties are making much pump and show while they distribute some quantity of Ration or other eatables among such people.  At one hand people are prohibited from going out of their homes but at the other hand there are reports that no government agency is making any out-reach to these stranded people who are held up at different locations and therefore a confusion and chaos have arisen. It could not be understood as to what is the difficulty for the JK-UT administration in this regard if it arranges to make public all their programs, policies and orders on TV and also through Social Media.  Who are the government officers / officials assigned the job, their names,  contact numbers particularly mobile phone contact numbers, location of their availability,  identity proof of such stranded people,  requirements / documents etc required by the administration for preparing pass / permission etc. Why the administration is bent upon to cheat these people.  Reportedly it is also learnt that passes / permissions are being issued selectively to some influential persons and some sycophants only and Aam Aadmi is rendered helpless.  Lok Adhikaar Mission J&K makes an earnest appeal before JK- UT administration and particularly the Lt. Governor JK-UT to kindly probe into the matter and pass instructions which are effectively implemented on ground and stranded people are made aware time to time in each and every locality so that they can approach and understand the things and thus can obtain such permission and passes and thereby can leave for their native places and therefore their woes are resolved.
