Chairperson of Waqf Development Committee of Union Ministry of Minority Affairs and Spokesperson of Bhartiya Janata Party Dr Darakhshan Andrabi has submitted a Memorandum to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Mr G C Murmu requesting him to clear the government liability of Rs 400 Crores of the past four financial years to the Hot Mix Plant Owners of Kashmir who have contributed for the development of Jammu & Kashmir in constructing roads which are lifeline for any economy. “The industrial and technical sectors have always been ill-treated by the past governments and this approach of the previous governments has discouraged industry and has stopped the public sector investment in J&K, said Dr Darakhshan Andrabi. She said that the amount of approximately Rs 400 Crore (Rupees Four Hundred Crores) on account of macadamization in Kashmir Valley is still unpaid to the Hot Mix Plant Owners of Kashmir for the years 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19.
“The Hot Mix Plant Owners of Kashmir are genuinely concerned about non-availability of working capital with them. In such conditions how can they take up new assignments and pay salaries to their employees and laborers,” said Dr Darakhshan. She said that the for overall development of Kashmir, it is necessary to consider the release of the pending work-done-liability of 400 Crores (Rupees Four Hundred Crore) for the years 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 so that there will be sigh of relief for them and to hundreds of families associated directly and indirectly with the business. “The government needs to formulate a quick-payment system so that huge liabilities like these don’t accumulate and works are initiated only when funds are allocated,” said Andrabi.
