Ganderbal April 12: Former MLA from Ganderbal and National Conference Senior Leader Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar today raised the issue of scores of Kashmiri students, businessesman, patients and labours who have been stranded in Jammu and other parts of the country after they were not able to move easily because of lack of transport or other restrictions imposed by the government in the wake of COVI-19 with Lt. Governor J&K Shri G C Murmu telephonically.

In a statement issued here Ishfaq Jabbar urged Lt. Governor that most of the students and other people who were pursuing studies and jobs in various parts of the country, are not able to come back to the valley, due to restrictions and lack of transport facilities.

He expressed its concern on the condition of students and other people of Kashmir, who despite testing negative twice and completing their quarantine period are not being brought home.

Mr Jabbar requested Governor G C Murmu to provide necessary assistance to J&K students & other people stranded in different parts of country
and to initiate their safe evacuation at an earliest.

Lt Governor assured Jabbar that with an aim to address the issues faced by the residents of the Union Territory living in different parts of the country, a 24X7 helpline centre has been established at J&K Resident Commissioner Office, New Delhi following the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The helpline is engaged with local administrations of more than 18 states in rendering all possible help in the form of cooked food, dry ration, medicines, vegetables as well temporary accommodation wherever required.

The former MLA also raised the issue of distribution of material by NGOs, Political & Religious organisations. Ishfaq said that the vegetable vendors, milk suppliers are allowed to move freely in & out especially in district Srinagar & Ganderbal without any proper check up. Ishfaq further said that allowing the vegetable vendors to roam in the streets is a risk and demanded proper check ups at entry points and at fruit mandi Parimpora.
