Kupwara, Jul 13  Police in Kupwara on Wednesday said to have arrested a ‘drug smuggler’ and recovering from his possession narcotics along Line of Control in Tadd area in Karnah.

“On reliable information developed by incharge Police Post Tadd Ayush Sharma that a person namely Mohd Azam Choker son of Mohd Ismail Choker resident of Nawagabra has been hiding some illegal consignment of narcotics with him”, said a police spokesperson in a statement to GNS. “On this information, after taking cognisance, Mohd Azam was apprehended and put to sustained questioning in presence of local Executive Magistrate.”

 

“During questioning, Azam disclosed that he had concealed the consignment in his temporary shop structure in a polythene bag”, maintains the statement.

 

“The police party along with the Executive Magistrate at the disclosure and identification of the spot by the accused recovered one packet of heroin-like narcotics weighing 650 grams from the shop”, reads the statement.

 

“Further investigation to unearth the whole nexus is underway and more arrests in the case cannot be ruled out”, concludes the statement. (GNS)
