Ganderbal:  In order to aware the general public about legal aspects of Rights of women, Crime against women/girls, sexual assault, physical abuse, mental harassment, Female feoticide, Ganderbal Police today organized an awareness Seminar at PS Kheerbawani in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare Ganderbal.

On the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, the awareness Seminar was chaired by DySP Hqr’s Ganderbal Shri Gh Hassan-JKPS, and Sr.PO Smt. Nadish, DySP (P) Smt. Ruksana Chowdhary, SHO Insp.Mudasir Zaro, officers of Civil Departments and Social Activists graced the occasion with their informative lectures.

During the Seminar, Speakers delivered an elaborate lectures on the topic of Sexual Harassment at work places, Domestic violence, Human trafficking etc. He said that women have been victims of the humiliation, exploitation and torture by the men on different counts and rapes and brutal murders have been so common nowadays. The event made the participants aware about the provisions of law for the protection of women. He advised them to come forward with their problems/grievances instead of being victim of bad characters. He assured them that police is committed for the security/protection of general public particularly women folk. Lectures were also delivered by other Police/Civil officers and social activists in which participants were made aware about the rights of women in the society. The participants were asked to encourage the victims of girl child, women abuse in case any report comes to surface in their respective jurisdictions. Detailed awareness about laws and provisions related to abuse of women, foeticide and infanticide have been imparted to the participants.

In addition, it was brought to the notice of women that Ganderbal Police has setup Women’s Cell in District Ganderbal that can be approached for any kind of assistance. The participants were assured that the identity of the victim would be kept secret.

Besides, the participants were also made aware about JKeCOP application launched by J&K Police to get emergency services including lodging an FIR at the click of a button. They were requested to download the application from play store for almost all police related issues like lodging complaints (FIR), viewing an FIR, giving information, reporting traffic violation, seeking emergency help, etc.

Finally, the event concluded on the good note and vote of thanks from both the sides.
