Chairing a review meeting here with district officers, Advisor Baseer Khan asked for aggressive sampling in red zones with focus on vulnerable sections of society including persons with chronic diseases like cancer, diabetes, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and old aged.

He said aggressive sampling together with strict lockdown will help in containing deadly spread of COVID-19 infection in the district. He said administration has to be sensitive to the genuine needs of the people in red zones and added a robust mechanism must be put in place in this regard in such areas.

The Advisor asked the health authorities not to make referrals without sampling of patients requiring tertiary level medical care. For the purpose he asked Principal GMC, Anantnag and CMO Anantnag to prioritise sampling for pregnant women and persons with co-morbidities.

He asked CMO to translate medical advisories in local languages for general awareness of the people so that medical protocol is followed by one and all while undertaking agriculture, horticulture and other permissible industrial activities in green zones.

The Advisor also highlighted the need for testing of all employees and medicos as a measure to stop spread COVID -19 infection. He said it was important that no precious life is lost due to casual and unprofessional approach of anybody.

Baseer Khan also reviewed the arrangements being made by district administration for the forthcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra. He said the employees and service providers to be deployed must be tested for COVID-19 before they undertake their respective role.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner, K.K. Sidha gave a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the steps taken to combat spread of COVID-19 infection in the district. He said effective measures are afoot for enforcing lockdown in red zones and augmenting additional quarantine and hospital isolation facilities. He said district administration has initiated measures for aggressive sampling as well as reverse contact tracing to plug probable sources for COVID-19 infection.

The meeting was attended by Principal GMC Anantnag, SSP Sandeep Choudhary, ADC Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, CEO PDA Mushtaq Simnani, SEs of hydraulic, PDD, R&B and other concerned officers.
