Kulgam, 19th June, CNS: People from Homeshalibug on Friday staged a protest against the authorities at district headquarter Kulgam alleging that their area is being neglected by the authorities.
Inayatullah a resident of the area, while expressing his anguish to CNS said that their area has dilapidated roads, negligible power supply and shortage of drinking water supply which is making life very difficult in the area.
He alleged that the PPD department is looting the people of the area by charging them exuberant rates, quite higher than the actual rates.
“PPD department is looting the people of the area by charging them with Rs 550 per month while the rates are 370”, he said.
Another protestor Mushtaq Ahmed said that the roads of the area are in a pathetic condition and the dilapidated roads have not been repaired since ages.
He further said, “We have also face a tremendous shortage of drinking water in our area and our taps are running dry”, he said.
“Despite approaching the authorities repeatedly to solve our problems, no one has bothered to address those”, he added.
While complaining that the authorities have left them at the mercy of God, the protestors appealed Deputy Commissioner Kulgam to look into the matter and intervene to provide relief to the people of the area. (CNS)
