Srinagar, June 29: State President of J&K Handicapped Association Abdul Rashid Bhat and J&K Handicapped Association District President Srinagar Abrar Ahmed Bhat specially congratulated 100% visually impaired girl Parthi Dhar daughter of Ashok Dhar from Jagti colony Nagrota Jammu and 100% visually impaired boy Arun Kumar son of Shami Lamba from Jagti Colony Nagrota Jammu for their success in their exams.
In a joint Statement, they said that both scored 82% in Arts and 92% in Commerce respectively from government higher Secondary School Jagti Colony Nagrota Jammu.
J&K Handicapped Association State President Abdul Rashid Bhat said that Both have proved that dedication and learning end at resulting excellent outcome. Best wishes for achieving best place and all the best for the upcoming days.
State President J&K Handicapped Association Abdul Rashid Bhat said that they faced lot of trouble while finding the scribe. There were not proper accessible books by which they can read and comfortably crack the exams. After facing lot of difficulties they came with flying colours and proved that there disability was their ability.
And Abdul Rashid Bhat also added that government and Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education should look after this and they should provide the accessive aids and accessible materials for the all types of persons with disabilities by which they can continue their further studies and fulfill their dreams. In our UT, there is accessibility issue in all schools and other educational institutions and government and Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education is not paying attention towards these serious issues.
And Abdul Rashid Bhat in addition spoke about RPWD Act 2016.
Under RPWD Act 2016 which talks about accessibility – setting a two-year deadline for the government to ensure that persons with disabilities get barrier-free access to physical infrastructure and transport systems. Additionally, it will also hold the private sector accountable. This also includes educational institutions ‘recognized’ by the government such as privately owned universities and colleges, the statement reads.
So Abdul Rashid Bhat is requesting the government of Jammu and Kashmir to implement this law and help the all the persons with disabilities, reads the statement.
The statement added that at last Abdul Rashid Bhat and Abrar Ahmad Bhat congratulating both the students Parthi and Arun on their success in 12th exam and wished them successful and joyful years ahead. (CNS)
