Kulgam 30 June,: Principle Sessions Judge Kulgam Mohd. Ashraf Malik on Tuesday convicted a cop Sanjay Kumar Rai S/O Ram Chand Rai R/O Gomadi Tehsil Lalgunj Azamgund UP for life imprisonment for killing his three colleagues and injured fourth one in year 2011.
According to the judgment passed by Sessions Judge Kulgam, spread over more than 175 pages, a copy of which is lying with CNS reads, On 24th Dec 2011 accused has fired several gun shots with his INSAS service riffle during sleep hours in MT Bark CRPF 18BN Kulgam, during which several COPs were seriously injured, among which three succumbed and the Limb of Fourth Cop was amputated. Meanwhile Police has reached on spot and register a case bearing FIR No 271/2011 in Police Station Kulgam.
After the presentation of challan before the Sessions Court Kulgam, against the accused cop, charge was framed against him on 24-11-2011 and statement of thirty witnesses were also recorded by Sessions Court during trial and on 07-03-2019, Court has closed the prosecution evidence.
On Tuesday, Principle Sessions Judge Kulgam Mohammad Ashraf Malik after finding the cop guilty for the crime sentenced Life Imprisonment for the him, reported a local news gathering agency Current News Service. (CNS)
