Kulgam, July 09 : A 40-year-old woman drowned to death in Nallah Veshaw at Aadijan area of Damhal Hanjipora in Kulgam district last evening.
According to CNS, the woman identified as Shamima Banoo wife of Late Bashir Ahmad Lone from Nagam Kulgam slipped into the Nallah Veshaw, while she was crossing the damaged diversion near under construction Damhal Aadijan.
Although the locals tried hard to rescue her in time, but failed to save her life.
Sources close to the family of the deceased woman told local news gatherin agency CNS, that she was a cancer patient and was coming back to her home from SKIMS Srinagar after a medical checkup.
A police officer while confirming the death of the woman in drowning incident said that cognizance of the incident has been taken and investigations into the incident have been set in motion. (CNS)
