Sand mafia attacks Geology and Mining Officer in Tangmarg
Baramulla, July 18,: Local Sand and Tipper mafia this evening attacked Geology and Mining Officer in Tangmarg area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district and damaged his vehicle when he was in the area to check illegal extraction of sand.
Sources told news agency KNT that Geology and Mining Officer, Nisar Ahmed Khan who is Tehsil In Charge Tangmarg was in Batapora Kunzar area of Tangmarg when miscreants attacked his vehicle and damaged it completely.
The local sand mafia attacked his vehicle with stones that caused damage to the vehicle. However, the officer managed to escape from the spot unhurt.
When contacted, Nisar Ahmed said that sand mafia is active in the area and they think they are above the law. “I had gone there to see if anyone is extracting sand illegally in the area, but little did I know, they know me and will attack my vehicle,” Nisar Ahmed told news agency KNT.
Meanwhile locals appealed police and civil administration to take stern action against the sand mafia. (KNT)
