After DC,s intervention, Uri admin to keep an eye on picnic spots

Uri, August 3: A day after a huge number of people gathered at Lower Jhelum Hydro Project (LJHP) reservoir in Chahlan in north Kashmir’s Uri town, the administration here on Monday asked all duty magistrate to keep a vigil on all the picnic spots and not to allow anyone there.
“We have the instructions from the DC Baramulla to keep a vigil on all the picnic spots in this border town and we are following those orders,”SDM Uri Reyaz Ahmad Malik told to GNS
“I have directed all the duty magistrates, sarpanches, panches and a government headmaster to constitute an enforcement teams to personally monitor all the picnic spots,’ he said.
The picnic spots that have to be checked by the officials include Baba Fareed, Nambla waterfall, Bosiya, Waterfall Noorkhah, TV tower Uri, Salamabad Uri, Dam site of Uri-II, Machikrand, Sumgali Salamabad many places in Boniyar.
The administration has also learnt that cricket and volley ball matches are played in many villages of Uri where huge gathering of people violates COVID guidelines.
The SDM told to GNS, DC Baramulla had received the complaints about the presence of huge gathering at various picnic spots in Uri following which directions were passed to him.
The tehsildar Boniyar Imran Ahmad has appointed three duty magistrates to keep a check on the people visiting at reservoir site.
” It is surprising to see that people have turned up in huge number and administration was not visible on the ground,such instances are posing a serous threat to our lives” said a local to GNS۔
