CNS Sept 4, 2020:- The ‘new type primary health centre’ (NTPHC) building at Khumina village of Hajin block is awaiting completion even after 12 years of its foundation, with the local residents facing difficulties for want of adequate health facilities in the village.
“Even as the foundation stone of the NTPHC Khumina was laid in 2008, the hospital building is still incomplete,” locals told CNS
At present the hospital is operating from a rented Auqaf building. “The centre has been located in just four rooms for the last 60 years, which speaks volumes about the claims made by the health department regarding improving the healthcare facilities in rural areas,” the locals said.
Officials told us that the hospital was scheduled to come up at an estimated cost of Rs 93.92 lakh. “The work is being carried out by the R & B department, Sumbal division.”
The locals said, “They had to take their patients either to community health centre Sumbal or to any other hospital in Srinagar due to unavailability of requisite medical facility in the home village” they said.
The locals added that more than 40,000 souls from eight villages namely Amchi Kundal, Baharabad, Markundal, Poshwara, Gundiboon, Vijpora, Khumina and Kathpora are dependent on this facility.
When CNS contacted Block medical officer Dr. Ajaz he said, “I have no information regarding it, let me check.”
“The needs of health and medical can be never be compromised that too in the times of Global Pandemic when city hospitals are already over flooded” said local resident Mushtaq Ahmad (CNS)
