DDC Ganderbal inspects macdamization, developmental works at Zazna Mandi
GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 24: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today visited Zazna Fruit and Vegetable Mandi Ganderbal to inspect the status of ongoing macdamization and other developmental works which is approved under languishing scheme at the cost of Rs 5.44 crore.
During the visit, the Executive Engineer, Horticulture Planning, Marketing and construction Division Srinagar briefed the DDC about the status of ongoing development works including macdamization, administrative block, weigh bridge complex, public convenience block, garbage disposal shed, etc. He also informed that about 90% works are completed which include fencing, Auction Pharr, weigh bridge, public convenience block and Garbage Disposal Unit are already completed. Besides, Administrative Block, Grading Packing Unit, Electrification and illumination and other finishing works are in progress which shall get completed till ending October 2020.
While reviewing the functioning of the Mandi, the concerned informed the DDC that the Mandi is operational and over 5 trucks of apple fruit are loaded on daily basis which goes up to 15 trucks during peak harvesting season.
Keeping in view the harvesting fruit season already setup, the DDC directed the Executing Agency for completion of ongoing works especially Macdamization of inner roads for smooth and hassle-free conveyance within a stipulated time frame.
On the occasion the DDC said that the District Administration is always on forefront and making its best efforts to mitigate the problems being faced by fruit growers adding that all latest facilities will be made available to the traders as well as fruit growers of the district at well-connected Zazna Mandi which would be beneficial in ensuring good returns to fruit growers, traders and all concerned in the district.
