Deputy Mayor SMC and two BJP councilors neck deep in corruption: Sanjay Saraf
Demands Lt. Governor to take a note and strict action against the accused
Srinagar, Oct 27, : Accusing the Deputy Mayor and two BJP councilors of being neck deep into corruption, Lok Jan Shakti Party national youth president Sanjay Saraf on Tuesday said that while the authorities in Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) are minting money through unfair means, the daily wagers are going without salary for months.
Saraf, according to news agency KDC, was addressing a press conference in Srinagar.
He said that the Deputy Mayor, who is presently holding the charge of Acting Mayor SMC, in cooperation with two BJP councilors, is involved in a large scale land and property scam.
“The trio is grabbing the state land, with hand in glove with some Housing Development Board employees, who help in forging the documents of state land and migrant property,” he said.
Citing an example Saraf referred to a Housing Board employee with name, who is working as ordinary night watchman, but owns a land worth 50 to 60 crores in Sanat Nagar area.
While coming down heavily on Deputy Mayor (Acting Mayor), Saraf said that while the daily wagers in the Corporation are going without salary, he has ordered bullet proof Safari vehicle for himself, for which a payment of four and a half lakh has already been made, while the rest amount of fifteen lakhs have been promised to be paid in cash.
“The city is presently being vandalized through large scale illegal constructions, without paying fee to the Corporation, turning it bankrupt, for payment of wages to casuals, while the enforcement staff is making a fortune, through allowing this vandalization,” he said.
Saraf said further, “It is an irony that daily wagers, who go without wages are punctual, while the promptly paid permanent employees of SMC report to their duties, late by two to three hours.”
“It is an injustice with poor daily wagers who are starving, while corrupt officials mint crores,” he added.
Requesting Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to take a note of the stink in SMC, Sanjay Saraf demanded a probe into the alleged corruption in the corporation and action against the persons accused of corruption. (KDC)
