The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party demanded the release of all those who have been arrested and detained without any charges post-August 5, 2019, ahead of holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued here the PDP spokesperson Tahir Syeed said that the continuous incarceration of hundreds of youth, political leaders and activists is a matter of serious concern and needs to be addressed on priority. “This is inhuman and unjustified to keep people behind bars under draconian PSA without even charges”, he said adding that these detainees are not facing any serious allegations other than having a contrary opinion on political and administrative matters.
Spokesperson said that the Party is concerned over the continuous detention of its President, Mehbooba Mufti.
“Government must release all of them before the holy month of Ramzan so that they can rejoin their families,” he said adding that all the senior political leaders including Naeem Akhter, Mohd Sartaj Madni, Pir Mansoor Hussain, Ali Mohd Sagar, Dr Shah Faesal, Hilal Lone And other political activists are under PSA detention without any justification.
PDP also demanded that political leaders including Gh Nabi Lone Hanjura, Sajad Gani Lone, Aijaz Ahmed Mir and Waheed ur Rahman Parra and others who are facing house confinement must be released.
