New Delhi, May 08, CNS: 960 foreign Tablighi Jamaat members including 4 Americans, 9 Britishers who were blacklisted, and their visas cancelled in the first week of April 2020, may be allowed to return back to their countries, after various embassies approached Union Foreign Ministry and demanded Council access for them, media reports said.
The foreign Jamaat members, who are currently in different parts of the country, some of whom have tested positive for COVID-19, also include 379 Indonesians, 110 Bangladeshi, 63 Myanmarese and 33 Sri Lankan citizens.
As many as 77 Kyrgyzstanis, 75 Malaysian, 65 Thai, 12 Vietnamese, 9 Saudi and three French nationals were also among those Tablighi Jamaat activists who were blacklisted and their visas cancelled, a government official said.
Sources in New Delhi said that several countries have approached Indian government through their embassies in New Delhi to allow these stranded foreign nationals, who are facing charges for violating visa rules, to allow then to return back to their respective countries and allow them the councilor access.
If sources are to be believed, government of India is considering to allow them to return back to their countries; however this may not be possible, till international air traffic is resumed; however if allowed some countries may arrange special flights for their citizens suck in India.
Also their return involves legal implications as they have been booked under the charges of violating visa rules by attending Jamat congregation, while on tourist visit to India; however indications are that the charges against them may be dropped, in order to pave a way for their return.
