The prominent former Student leaders and present office bearers of NPSU said in a statement that the NPSU shall call the Students and ex-Students nationwide and shall knock the doors of the Supreme Court of India if the Govt. does not withdraw its decision to keep the Students bodies out of decision making matters. There has been a long standing demand of the Students fromall over the country to have adequate representation in all the decision making bodies of the Universities and Colleges including but not limited to the managing committees, the senate’s, different committees and university courts. The prominent former Student leaders included Prof. Bhim Singh, Chief Patron & Founder of National Panthers Students Union, Shri Sanjoy Sachdev, ex-General Secretary Indian Students Congress, Shri Balwant Singh Mankotia, former President-NPSU, Shri P.K Ganju, Founder Member-NPSU, Ch. Mohd. Iqbal, former General Secretary-NPSU, S. Daljeet Singh, former General Secretary-NPSU, Shri Bansi Lal Sharma, Advocate, former President-NPSU, Shri Uday Chand, former President of NPSU, Ms. Anita Thakur, former General Secretary-NPSU, Shri Pushvinder Manhas, former General Secretary-NPSU, Shri Jagdev Singh, former General Secretary-NPSU, Shri Yash Paul Kundal & Satpaul Saini,   former Secretaries-NPSU, Shri Varinder Singh Thakur, ex-President-NPSU, Shri Partap Singh Jamwal, former President-NPSU. Among others including the present office bearers of NPSU. The Student leaders from Jammu & Kashmir made great success as the Legislators, popular leaders, Journalists & writers.

The NPSU leadership strongly condemned the statement made by the Govt. of India in playing down the role of Students in final draft of new education policy which does not allow the students bodies to play any decision making role in the Educational Institutions and the Universities. This has been proposed by the Union Govt. only to scuttle the role of the Students bodies in the decision making process in the Universities and Educational Institutions.

The former Student leaders and the present leadership of NPSU has decided to move the Supreme Court of India challenging this policy making decision. They have requested Prof. Bhim Singh, Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India to take up the matter on behalf of Students of Jammu & Kashmir and other States to fight out this dictatorial proposed policy of Govt. of India.

The present & former Student leaders have requested Prof. Bhim Singh to convene an urgent meeting of all Student Organizations in Jammu & Kashmir and in the rest of the country and invite all progressive, secular, democratic student organizations to declare a nationwide movement of the Students and their well-wishers in the country on silence of Union Govt. on the students role in decision making bodies.

Already the country is full of Private Colleges and Universities that do not have Students Union even. The demand should include right of Students Union to the Students of these Private Institutions,  that are running as Commercial Shops, so as to ensure rights of the Students Community.
