Srinagar, June 27 : The Group of Ministers (GOM) saturday reviewed the present covid- 19 situation of India in a high level meeting held in New Delhi.
Official sources told news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS), that the GOM was briefed about the latest status, response and management of COVID-19 in the country.
Sources said that the GOM was briefed on the progress made in the spheres of the tasks assigned to the 11 Empowered Groups.
“The meeting was also appraised about the growing medical infrastructure in the country. The Group of Ministers was informed about the deliberation on containment strategy and management aspects of COVID-19,” sources maintained.
External Affairs Minister, Civil Aviation Minister, Minister of State for Home, Minister of State for Shipping and Chemical and Fertilizers, Minister of State for Health was also part of the GoM.
The meeting has also reviewed the containment measures of COVID-19 in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
It is to mention here that the 16th meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) recently was held in New Delhi through a video conference.
The GOM had directed the top administrators from the newly formed union territory, Jammu and Kashmir, to take all necessary precautions to check the spread of Covid-19.
The GOM had also directed the officials to advise people to follow all the precautions and guidelines laid by the centre to successfully fight the coronavirus.
The meeting was informed that the health department of the Union territory has sufficient stock of protective equipment including masks for distribution among frontline workers and efforts are being made to scale up the production by involving self-help groups (SHGs) and private entrepreneurs locally.
The GOM had outlined that so far the UT has been able to control the spread of the virus due to pro-active participation of people across J&K.
The GOM while appreciating the efforts made by the top state administrators in the UT region, had also advised the health professionals to not panic due to the spike in cases. “The UT was doing a good job and all the Covid-19 positive cases are not only being traced but treated effectively in quarantine facilities,” it was observed.
