Bandipora, June 15 (KNO): Residents of several remote villages of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district Monday alleged that they are facing immense problems in absence of public transport amid lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Residents of Kudara, Srinder, Chutimulla, and Chapran aragam, area of Bandipora told news agency-Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that they are facing a lot of difficulties as the public transport continues to remain off the roads. “The administration should allow the public transport in remote areas of the district so that people can travel hassle free,” they said.
“People who have their own private vehicles travel comfortably during lockdown and people living in remote areas stuck in the middle” said Nowreen, who walked from her house to main market to buy grocery items.
“Amid lockdown we face immense issues while reaching to market. I had to walk at least 3 kms to reach market to buy grocery items,” she said and urged the district administration to arrange transport facilities for the people living in remote villages.
Farooq Ahmed a resident of Chapran village of Bandipora said: “I left my home in the early hours and I am yet to reach my destination. I had to take my ailing daughter to hospital, but due no transport. My daughter needed immediate medical attention.”
Another group of Chandeji residents which is about 17 kilometers away from the Main town said that they had come to DC office for some work and it took them about five hours to reach there. “Hundreds of private vehicles were moving on the road then why are there only restrictions on public transport.
We poor people are dependent on public transport. The administration must allow public transport to play now,” the locals told KNO. Residents of remote areas of Bandipora and the transport drivers have appealed the administration to allow them to resume their services—(KNO)
