Kupwara, June 20 (KNS): The health care facility in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday once again remained in headlines after young lady died as she allegedly did’t get the treatment on time.

Family members told the medical staff deputed there asked us to report after 10 am. Once we reported SDH Hamdwara, none of the doctor bothered to treat the patient and they were wandering here and there in search of medical assistance.

They alleged that patient was asked to go District Hospital Handwara after which the denial of required medical treatment by medicos led the death of lady who breathed his last while ferrying from here and there.

The family members expressed grave anger over the non-professional outlook of doctors and demanded strict action against the health officials who allegedly denied treatment to lady.

The family members said that the deceased lady would have alive if doctors have treated on time but their negligence left the young lady dead.

Meanwhile the locals of the area have expressed shock over the callous attitude of doctors in the district and said they fail to understand that why the situation of the health care in district is weakening day by day. They added earlier the new born baby was injured in a private nursing home in Handwara who is battling for his survival in children’s hospital Srinagar.

Family member of the said baby told that first they visited the DH Handwara for surgical purpose but we were shifted to private hospital where a general surgeon operated a pregnant lady and caued head injury while operation.

Earlier this week aother pregnant lady from Pakribal Kralgund was allegedly forced to spend night under open sky. Officials at DH Handwara later contested the claims of the patient saying that she was treated properly.

When KNS contacted to BMO Kupwara Dr Zaffer, he admitted the patient had come to SDH and Higher secondary were the OPD is being functioning from 10am to 04pm and said they have also informed the general public regarding the same.

When asked in case of any exigency where the patient will have to go, he said that since last two months the OPD is functioning from Higher Secondary and before 10 am and after 04pm the non-covid patients have to visit the DH Handwara for treatment.

However the civil society members, social activists of the Kupwara and Handwara have expressed the strong resentment over the medical negligence in the district and said that it is because of no transparency in the health department.

They said the doctors and paramedics are not being transferred from existing positions since decades.
They demanded immediate transfer of the doctors and paramedics in the district.

When KNS contacted to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Anshul Garg, he said that the ADC Handwara has been asked to constitute an inquiry regarding the Handwara incident and after getting report further process will be done.

Asked about kuwpara incident he said that he will talk to CMO Kupwara in this regard and those who will be found responsible, will be dealt strictly.

When asked about no transfer of doctors and paramedics he said “it is not in my domain to transfer the doctors and paramedics however said that he will recommend director health services kashmir regarding the issue”( KNS )
