Land re-claimed by Govt occupied again in Kangan
Kangan, July 19: The government land that was freed from the occupiers in Kangan area has been again occupied by land mafia within days.
Earlier, Department of Revenue had taken possession of illegally occupied land in Bardipaden Gagangeer area of Kangan here in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district and handed the same land to Block Development Council to set up toilets for general public.
Locals told news agency KNT that much to their surprise, the land has been illegally occupied again and proper fencing has been done by vested interest elements.
The land was set free from occupiers by Tehsildar Gund Fariduddin Khatana.
A signboard was officially put up at the site, stating that it is government land. Locals said that the BDC Chairman Gund did not take possession of the land for a month; and it was re-occupied and walled off.
SDM Kangan Hakeem Tanveer said he would take action against encroachers, but the locals are outraged saying if the government land had been reclaimed by the Revenue Department, then how come it has been occupied again. (KNT)
