Bandipora, August 15, CNS: Physical Education teachers employed under Rehbar e Khel scheme in Hajin area of Bandipore held a sit-in demonstration against the low wages and no job security. They were demanding reforms in their service rules besides increment in the wages.
“The PETs working under Rehbar e Khel scheme are working on almost no salary. The government has mentioned our initial seven years of service as unrecognised which will never be counted in our service period. This will not allow us in getting the promotion which can stretch to up to 15 years as our services will be counted after seven years, which is sheer injustice to us. We draw a salary of mere 100 rupees per day as PETs which is very unfortunate,” said a protesting PET.
While raising slogans like We Want Justice, the PETs demanded that the government should increase their salaries as they are fully qualified for the job.
“Just like other regular PETs who have been employed through Service Selection and Recruitment Board, all the PETs under Rehbar e Khel scheme have exact same qualifications like BPed and MPed, we do not understand as to why we are being left out then and provided less or negligible salaries. We cannot figure out that despite being qualified why is there a different behaviour of government towards us. We have been protesting but we aren’t being taken seriously. We request the LG and the Advisor to look into our matter so that we can provide quality life and education to our families and children,” they added. (CNS)
