The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains-2020 was held at designated centres in Kashmir, as the prestigious test commenced across the country.
Around 6,692 students from J&K have registered for the exam which will be held from September 1 to September 6 with two shifts per day at each examination centre in Srinagar. the authorities had taken adequate measures to avoid spread of COVID, including fumigating the centres and providing masks and hand sanitizers to students before and after the exams.
“Earlier, more than 300 students used to appear in one shift at each centre, but the number of students has been reduced to 40,” said Nabeel Showkat who was accompanying his younger brother to the exam centre.
Signboards were erected at each centre highlighting the necessary precautions to be followed by the students. The first exam shift began at 9:30 am while the second shift was conducted from 2.30 pm.
Many parents accompanying the students complained about the government failure in arranging transport facilities for the candidates appearing in the exam.
“Candidates from different districts like Pulwama, Kupwara and far flung areas faced immense hardships as the administration had not made any transport arrangement for them,” said Shabir Ahmad, a parent.(GK)
