ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 14: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, KK Sidha today inaugurated Zonal Office of Department of Soil & Water Conservation (S&WC) at Nagdandi Achabal.
The office has been housed in a rented building to ensure smooth functioning of the department in the Zone.
Addressing a sensitization cum awareness programme organised by the department at Achabal, the DDC stressed for conservation of soil and water resources for the ecological balance.
He hailed the efforts of the department in conducting the programme with strict adherence to all SOP’s and guidelines of the Covid 19 and maintaining social distancing.
The DDC on the occasion directed the District Officer Soil & Water Conservation department to come up with a plan for conservation of water bodies of the district for which the district Administration will make funds available besides, also ensure removal of encroachments on the Nallahs and springs to maintain clean waters.
The DDC and SSP will attend the Jan Abhiyan camps on 16, 23 and 30th of September for follow up of the grievances and issues raised by the public throughout the programme.
Among others, the camp was attended by AEE R&B, all field functionaries of zonal offices of S&WC, President MC Achabal and a large number of people from the adjacent areas.
