Bandipora, Nov 28: The illegal car parking in Bandipora area of this north Kashmir’s district has added to the miseries of commuters, who are being forced to remain stranded in a traffic mess for hours together due to the negligent behavior of norm violators.

Locals said that the illegal car parking near main chowk, Gulshan Chowk, Nebirpora, Kaloosa Chowk and hospital road and along the roadsides in the main market has left the commuters to lurch at large, saying that the norm violators don’t even bother to keep space for them to ensure their smooth passage mostly in evening hours.

Mohammad Arif, a student said that it seems that there is a competition between the street vendors and traffic violators in Bandipora as they occupy the roads as per their will and don’t bother to keep adequate space available for the commuters as well as the pedestrians.

Illegal Sumo stands have also come up in the area near State Bank, which has added to the miseries of locals, he said, adding that the issue was brought into the notice of ARTO Bandipora and other officials several times, but nothing has been done in this regard.

Another local resident said that the encroachment on footpaths and illegal parking of vehicles ultimately result in massive gridlocks in the main market, thus leaving the commuters to lurch at large.

He further stated that no deployment of traffic cops is further adding to the miseries while no one including the officials from traffic department and district administration bother to look into the matter.

Station House Officer Bandipora assured action in this regard.
