10-years on, Govt fails to complete Frasdub, Krisilpati Chitteybandy Bridge

Executive Engineer REW is unaware about the bridge on which his department is working

Chitteybandy (Bandipora) Dec 08: The resentment is brewing up among the residents of Chitteybandy and Aragam area in North Kashmir’s Bandipora District over the non availability of bridge since from last 10 years.
They said the work on the construction of bridge was initiated in during the year 2010 but the department left the work in the midway. The residents of the Frasdob, Krisal, Gorihajin, Budinaar, Chanpal and adjoining areas said they are facing immense hardships and inconvenience due to the absence of bridge.
“We are forced to walk on an unsafe bridge which can prove disastrous for the pedestrians during rainy season,”  wooed Shabir Ahmad Mir Gojer.
They said Rural Engineering Wing department earlier sanctioned an amount of Rs 16.72 lacs for construction of bridge but the contractor left the work in the midway which resulted immense problems to the Chitteybandy and its adjoining areas.
They appeal the concerned authority to get their grievances redressed at earliest.
The contractor who was working on the bridge said an amount of Rs 4.84 lacs which the government owed him is yet to be released by the department. He said due to the shortage of funds, he could not continue the work on the bridge.

An official in REW department said that PMGSY department is looking the work on said road.
When contacted officer of PMGSY, he refused said that we have not received any document regarding the work of bridge till date, he added that bridge is constructed by REW and they withdraw the half payment of bridge to contractor.

Interestingly Executive Engineer REW was unaware about the bridge on which his department is working. He assured investigation into the matter.

Locals appeal District Development Commissioner Bandipora to look into the matter.
