Srinagar:- The 5th UT-J&K Pencak Silat Championship 2020-21 , which was inaugurated by Mr. Nazim u Zia, Director, Kashmir, Industries and commerce on 13th February 2021 here at Indoor sports complex, Polo Ground, srinagar, in which 830 participants from all over the Union territory took part in this mega event, team from far flung areas like Kupwara, Shopian and other districts from Jammu division took part with a huge participation with full enthusiasm. The championship was organised for all 3 age categories like sub junior, Junior & Senior male and female and during the championship, shortlisting of the players for the forthcoming national level championship was also done during the 3 days events, The sub Junior and Junior nationals will be held at Srinagar for the first time and we are expected more than 1500 participation during the 6 days national championship , which is scheduled to be held in the last week of march 2021 will be followed by the Senior and master National Pencak silat championship 2020-21 at Rohtak Haryana accordingly.
District Srinagar was overall champions by winning maximum medals in the overall championship and district Shopian stood runners up and budgam was on the third rank.
The championship was organised by Pencak Silat Association of J&K under the aegis of Indian Pencak Silat Championship and sponsored by J&K sports council.
