Kulgam, Feb 10: Supply of poor quality and impure Rice to Anganwadi centres has posed a serious health risk to hundreds of children in Herpora Tarigam area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district
Nisar Ah one of the residents alleged that the rice supplied is of inferior quality and manufactured from pest-infested Rice. Basing on the allegations, there are various apprehensions of various corruption scandals in supply of the various things to the Children through the Anganwadi Centre.
Sources said employees of Anganwadi in connivance with officials of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) are supplying substandard Rice through the Anganwadi centres to the children.
When CNS contacted CDPO Mushtaq Ah Dar, he said, “ the ration centres which are supplying Rice to general public are supplying to ICDS centres also and our department have no role in it” he clarified.
CNS also contacted Assistant District Development Commissioner in this regard, he said, “ The supply of rice to the Anganwadi centres is through the common ration depots and when the general public has no objection about the quality of rice why only handful of people are creating a false notion?” he questioned.
When asked that CNS has the pictorial proofs of the impure rice, he neglected and said that frivolous elements may have adulterated it. (CNS)
