Calls it a crude joke, says orders demean democracy at grass root level
Srinagar,09 2021:The Jammu and Kashmir Party Leader and DDC Member from Khimber segment Kaisar Ganai on Tuesday expressed outrage at the honorium and warrant of precedence announced by government terming it acrude joke with the DDC members.
While expressing dismay over the honorium and warrant of precedence for the DDC members, Kaisar said, “It is sheer humiliation and insult. We had been assured that DDC members will be given powers at par with MLAs, but it turned out to be a window dressing. The orders have been issued without consulting us. The warrant of precedence was amended yesterday but it too isn’t up to our satisfaction, same is the case with the honorium, the diminutive amount is a crude joke,” he said.
He further stated that the conditions in which the DDC members contested the elections merited them to be treated at par with MLAs as was assured by the Government as well. We were lured to participate in the elections on the pretext of making us a stakeholder in the development. The order, he said will not help empower democracy at grass roots. “Much bravado was created by the government in the run up for DDC elections, but when it came to giving due respect, power and rescores, the government has chosen to duck out. The orders must be rolled back,” he said.
