Srinagar, Apr 13: The Covid-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir continue to show a spurt as 1,269 fresh positive cases, highest in ongoing year, were reported on Tuesday pushing the number of active cases near 8,681 which otherwise were less than 600 around a month before.

Three more deaths were reported in J&K in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 2,034 and active cases continue to increase and the recovery rate decreases with each passing day.1,269 fresh positive cases reported on Tuesday pushed the tally of positive cases to 140,650.

Of the exact number of 140,650 cases, 84,366 are from Kashmir and 55,263 from Jammu division. Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 1,269 new cases, 687 belong to Kashmir division while as 582 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 84,366 including 77,669 recoveries and 1,283 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 56,284 including 52,263 recoveries and 754 deaths.

The officials said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 8,681 including 5,414 from Kashmir division and 3,267 from Jammu division.

With 493 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 129,932 which is 92.37 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 423 from Srinagar, 98 from Baramulla, 42 from Budgam, 28 from Pulwama, 24 from Kupwara, 29 from Anantnag, 12 from Bandipora, 15 from Ganderbal, 09 from Kulgam and 07 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 582 from Jammu division include 191 from Jammu, 265 from Udhampur, 17 from Rajouri, 02 from Doda, 26 from Kathua, 11 from Samba, 00 from Kishtwar, 06 from Poonch, 02 from Ramban and 62 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

As per officials figures, 32,638 positive cases including 480 deaths and 29,078 recoveries are from Srinagar, 9,895 including 183 deaths and 8,893 recoveries are from Baramulla, 8,678 including 8,177 recoveries and 123 deaths are from Budgam, 6,167 including 5,877 recoveries and 92 deaths are from Pulwama, 6,057 including 98 deaths and 5,741 recoveries are from Kupwara, 5,439 including 5,114 recoveries and 99 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,901 cases including 4,711 and 63 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,825 including 4,681 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Ganderbal, 3,040 including 2,788 recoveries and 56 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,726 including 2,609 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 27,589 including 25,482 recoveries and 392 deaths are from Jammu district, 5,016 including 4,313 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Udhampur, 3,970 including 3,837 recoveries and 56 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,503 including 3,395 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Doda, 3,587 including 3,347 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Kathua, 2,954 including 2,818 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Samba, 2,787 including 2,734 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,589 including 2,519 recoveries and 27 deaths are from Poonch, 2,181 including 2,139 recoveries and 23 deaths are from Ramban and 2,108 including 1,679 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 1,626,156 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 65,250 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 8,681 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,418,860 persons have completed surveillance period and 131,328 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 6,573,965 samples are available. Out of 6,573,965 the number of samples tested negative stands at 6,433,315 while as 140,650 have tested positive, among them 8,681 persons are active, 129,932 persons have recovered and 2,037 persons have died—(KNO)
