Srinagar, May 13:Police on Thursday said to have arrested nine gamblers besides recovering a stake money amounting to 2, 50,000 during a raid on a premier Hotel in south-Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A police official told Srinagar-based news agency Global News Service (GNS) that on receipt of specific information about gambling in ‘Hotel Castle Rock’ located at Rafting point Movera, a police party alongside Magistrates raided the suspected venue. It was found that several people had assembled to engage in gambling activities, the official said.
All the nine accused present on the occasion were rounded-up by the police party besides stake money amounting to 2,50,000 also recovered, the official said.
Identifying the accused as Mohammad Abass Ganie resident of Wahdan; Mohammad Shafi Bhat resident of Laizbal Anantnag; Gulzar Ahmad Wani resident of Sarnal Kadipora; Shafiq Ahmad Malik resident of Qazibagh; Aabid Husain Sheikh resident of Laizbal; Ghulam Nabi Beigh resident of Khiram Srigufwara; Manzoor Ahmad Ganie resident of Wabzan Bijbehara; Ishtiyaq Ahmad Ganaie resident of Wahdan and Mushtaq Ahmad Ashwar resident of Thajwara Bijbehara, the official further said that a case vide FIR Number 23/2021 U/S 3/4 Gambling act stands registered and due investigation taken up in this regard.
